Panarea is the smallest (3.4 km²), and the lower of the Aeolian Islands. the population of Panarea is about 200 stable inhabitants in winter, during the summer months, it can easily multiply with the arrival of tourists. with islets Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca Nera and rock Panarelli and Formiche, it forms a small archipelago between Lipari and Stromboli placed on a single submarine base.
 

Most inhabitants have set up their homes in Ditella, San Pietro and Drauto which lie on the east of Panarea. The three hamlets overlooking the waterfront do not appear to be separate as the narrow roads from one fuse with the next. The closeness makes for an intimate atmosphere where everyone knows each other and even remember people from off the island.

Panarea remains one of the most fascinating islands in the whole Mediterranean Sea.

Access to the sea only by rocks and small pebbles beaches. The main products of the island are the olive groves, vineyards, capers and fishing.
Going up the mule tracks, is immersed among the thousand colors offered agaves, prickly pears, the caper flower, red bougainvillea, pink, purple, orange and naturally heather.

There are no roads, with the exception of a strip of asphalt that meanders for a few hundred meters away and connects the place assigned heliport, the mole.

The island is connected to the main island Lipari and the other Aeolian Islands, including maritime service by hydrofoil or by boat from Alicudi Lipari, Filicudi, Rinella and Santa Marina Salina or directly to Sicily.

PANAREA has little but lovely beaches, including Zimmari, Basiluzzo, LISCA BIANCA walking distance, with a small electric taxi or through the many boats that with a modest price, you will be accompanied to the chosen beach, then be recovered after a few hours.
