The typical Aeolian cuisine offers a great variety of dishes and recipes that embody the ancient history and traditions of this beautiful archipelago.
The particularity of each recipe is the result of a wonderful concentrate of history, customs, traditions and cultures that led to the creation of the current typical local cuisine.
The main feature of the cuisine of the Aeolian Islands is undoubtedly the careful use of aromatic herbs that give to each dish inebriating fragrances: rosemary, basil, garlic, mint, catmint, olives, cherry tomatoes and famous cappers.
The undisputed star of the Aeolian recipes is definitely the fish that we find in all the dishes: there are fish on the grill, strombolana spaghetti with capers, pasta with sea urchins, eolian caponata, the spatula tortino.
Among the sweets there are vastiduzze, cakes made with raisins and almonds and the delicious spicchiteddi made of cooked wine cloves and cinnamon.


The Malvasia of the Lipari Island: it is a wine product in all the islands where the vines are grown on typical terraced terrain. The Malvasia is a white wine colored amber suitable to accompany fresh fruit or dessert (perfect with little pastries).
There is also the version of the Malvasia of the Lipari Islands Passito (or Natural Sweet) and is obtained from the same grapes of ” normal ” Malvasia but the berries are partially dried on plant.
